An eclectic exhibition of a variety of artwork styles from Karl Hamilton-Cox. Known for his highly detailed artwork painted on leather this rare solo exhibition also includes work on board and paper covering wildlife, portraiture and automotive subjects.

The Artist in their own words

“I am an established portraiture artist based in Hereford and known as the leather artist as most of my wall mounted artwork is painted on leather.  I also create artwork on leather jackets and fashion accessories for commercial and private customers.

A self-taught artist where a realism style suits me especially monochrome compositions.  My portraiture and especially wildlife art on leather are popular as I have mastered the painting and finishing techniques to the degree that they can be shown without glazing and some feature my innovative box framed wrap technique where the textures, aroma and warmth of leather can be fully experienced; hence the ‘Awaken Your Senses’ title for this solo exhibition.

My work portfolio is varied as I constantly look for new challenges through materials, techniques and subject matter.  Most of my recent commissioned portfolio has been portraiture on leather (sci-fi, bikerand rock n roll lifestyle) jackets!

I am an Army veteran (REME) Engineer of 22 years from 1981 to2003 when I did short portraiture and life sculpture courses as part of my resettlement to civilian life to take a break from the Technology Degree I was finishing with the Open University. I then pursued a successful career in the defence industry in Malvern until 2013 when I made a radical career change to be a full-time artist.

My art has been exhibited in the USA and across the UK, from formal exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London, to the Contemporary Art Fairs in the Home Counties, Sixteen Gallery, Herefordshire Art Weekand other lifestyle events.”
