In the process of creating the Ballerina series Artist Simon Barlow captures the different aspects of their art form, from the endless training, pain, and hard work to the final stage Pro-Formance as a Primadonna.
About the Artist
Simon Barlow - a kiwi now living in Gloucestershire
"I have been painting and sculpting for over 40 years both recreationally and commercially for my work ; in architecture and design . Since retiring I joined a local Life Class from which my interest in the human form developed and sought inspiration from ballerinas due to their physicality,balance,and grace.The style,medium, and colouration is varied to complement the dynamic of the pose and character of the Ballerina. In the process of creating the Ballerina series I have tried to Capture different aspects of their art form,from the endless training,pain, and hard work to the final stage Pro-Formance as a Primadonna."

"Hobbies include travel ,skiing and diving which too have stimulated other works of art for example a manta ray ,divers , icebergs etc. I am currently working on a female form sculpture to compliment an already made male bronze resin sculpture,(D.N.A. the ribbon of life), which I hope to cast in bronze at a later date."
