'Snowdon Horseshoe in Winter'

I am a Gloucester based artist working in oils, focusing on equine, horse racing and mountain scape pieces. I have worked in the horse racing industry since leaving school and spent 5 years working around the world. During this time, I was never far from a paintbrush, Often painting the horses I admired most. I finished this chapter riding races at Santa Anita racetrack in California, sitting in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountain range. Here I was privileged to have a large piece of Triple crown winning racehorse ‘Arrogate’ on display at the racetrack.

On return to the UK, I began to pick up the brushes more, along with the hiking boots. I now spend many weekends climbing, hiking, and camping in Snowdonia and the Scottish Highlands. This is one of the first of my paintings to reflect this change of chapter, and I am looking forward to adventuring out for some plein air painting in the near future. I am always working to improve my skills, taking workshops and classes, alongside mentoring from Californian Artist and teacher, Cynci Cutter.
