Andrew Busby is a Music and Portrait photographer currently based in South West England. While studying photography at University he developed his skill for capturing memorable moments within the South West music and art scene.
Shooting both personal work, commissioned projects for magazines and record labels with a particular interest in Hip Hop, Grime and Drum & Bass, Andrew focuses his work not just on musicians, but on interactions between the artist and the crowd, and the crowd's response to the performance. Working within analogue and digital mediums, he often uses only ambient light giving his work a dark and textured feel.
This body of work focuses on the flow, atmosphere and form of a crowd, moving towards more graphic compositions, incorporating movement and expression. Taken from a single show in Thekla, a renowned music venue situated inside a former cargo ship in Bristol. It was one of the last live music events to go ahead before the first lockdown of 2020.
