Each Tree a Witness

28th September - 4th October 2023

About the exhibition

Images in print, pencil and ink inspired by the hills and woods of our local landscape. Seasons flow. Dogs sleep. Birds and foxes emerge. Each tree a witness.

Words from the Artist - Joanna Logan

I’ve composed this exhibition to give an impression of the changing seasons using as inspiration the characters who inhabit the landscape throughout the year; the oak, the bird, the fox, the dog. Like many, I’m conscious of the complexity and vulnerability of the natural world. The veteran trees are significant to many and I paint and draw their portraits as if they were venerable persons. The creatures who live among them, or run past them, show us that time moves differently for trees.

I accept commissions. My illustration work is published in books relating to gardens such as Chatsworth and Monet’s Garden, and authors include Sir Roy Strong.
