Textured Light

26th September - 2nd October 2024

Jaci Hogan and Alison Holt return to Sixteen Gallery with a new exhibition called ‘Textured Light’

The exhibition is a combination of  intricate detailed embroideries alongside beautifully observed pastel drawings. Vibrant and textured interpretations of landscape and seascapes in all their forms. They both explore the rhythm and movement in the imagery along the coastlines, waterways and inland. Both artists enjoy observing the textures and colours found within this subject, and use their different mediums to to create a cohesive body of work.

About the Artists

Jaci Hogan

Jaci uses soft pastels to create layers of colour in her method to reproduce the many textures of the wildlife she hopes to capture.  From the fur on her giraffes to the feathers on her diving penguins, she manages to take the viewer to the animal world through her wonderful wildlife pastel paintings.

Alison Holt

Alison’s land and sea scapes  are beautifully created in textile using her own method of freehand machine embroidery which she has developed over many years since graduating from Goldsmiths.  Each piece of work involves many layers of different coloured threads which Alison builds up like paint to produce amazing images which are almost photorealistic in their finish.
