I live and work from my own studio near Stroud, Gloucestershire. Working primarily in oil, I practice contemporary realism founded in the Atelier tradition - a discipline based on the classical methods of the Old Masters. My work is an exploration of the physical world, celebrating elegance and beauty, colour and form through careful drawing, close observation and craft, developed through studies from life. I choose a wide variety of subjects including the romantic, contemporary and historical. Using light, texture, and composition, the painting functions not only as a technical discipline, but as a form of storytelling.
