bio

My artistic practice focuses on the exploration of the female form, both as a visual subject and a vessel for emotional expression. Through my practice, I aim to create empowering representations of femininity, through highlighting the "perfect imperfections" of the female form that are so often overlooked or idealised in traditional depictions of women. Much of my work is led by a desire to express inner states of thoughts, feelings, and identity of women. This focus has led me toward a process that allows for both precision and emotional flow. Lino printing has become a central part of my process. I’m drawn to the clarity of line and the emotional resonance it brings to the female form. The line expresses the internal flow of thought and emotion; dreamlike and fluid, like ripples in water. There is a meditative rhythm to the process, and an unpredictable beauty in the final reveal. Recent explorations have allowed me to experiment with both tonal depth and soft colour palettes. Helping me reflect the emotional subtlety and dreamlike quality I aim to capture in each piece. Using this to understand the female body, by encouraging me to celebrate form without oversexualising or beautifying it. My practice is about connection, between myself as an artist and the subject, mind and body, tradition and reinterpretation. My work is a reflection on female identity and a celebration of femininity. Through my work, I hope to open up space for reflection, recognition, and empowerment.
