bio

Using instinctive mark, confident shapes and layers of colour, Beth Quarmby makes sensitive but bold paintings which serve as her correspondence with the world around her and an exploration of relationships within it, both experienced and observed. Much of Beth's work carries themes of death and loss. She uses layers of acrylics to build images with a translucency that hints at what has come before. Memories kept in paint. She uses naïve botanicals and interacting forms as a vehicle throughout her paintings as well as frequent appearances of herself as a many handed bird. There is joyful confidence in her paintings which reflects her love and value for the creative process.
