bio

Since transitioning from fashion design to intuitive painting six years ago, Charlotte has cultivated a distinctive visual language through her use of colour, mark making, and layering—balancing uplifting energy with a sense of tranquillity. Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil stick, her pieces are characterised by feminine, loose, expressive brushstrokes in refreshing palettes that collectors find both soothing and captivating. Drawing on the skills honed while running an award-winning clothing company, Charlotte brings a strong professional foundation to her art practice, underpinned by disciplined studio work, quality materials and refined presentation & marketing - qualities that elevate and unify her evolving body of work, helping worldwide collectors buy with confidence. Full Artist Statement Charlotte Keating is a contemporary artist based in the Forest of Dean, known for her dreamy abstract paintings with soft, expressive brushstrokes in vibrant colours. Through acrylic paint and oil sticks, she explores a mindful, meditative approach grounded in healing and self-expression, creating pieces which resonate with emotional depth and beauty. While each series varies in theme, her distinctive use of colour, mark making and layering embodies a unique handwriting, balancing uplifting energy with a sense of tranquillity. With a strong background in creative design, she earned a Foundation Art & Design qualification from Aberdeen College in 1997, followed by a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from Winchester School of Art in 2000. She then built a dynamic career in high-end women’s fashion, designing award winning womenswear collections, bespoke bridalwear and nursingwear range. In 2019, she retrained with established artists to embrace the freedom of intuitive painting to express her emotions through colour and mark making as a form of pain management for a longstanding injury, thus providing respite and healing. Her distinctive style reflects a deep understanding of colour, texture and form, honed through years of working in fashion. Taking a series-based approach, she draws inspiration from curated colour palettes and themes to create visually compelling narratives. Charlotte’s work is held in collections both locally and internationally, celebrated for its ability to transform interiors with a sense of calm and uplifting energy through dreamy layers and colour.
