When very young and daydreaming in school, I suddenly experienced a powerful light entering through the crown of my head…and filling my heart. Immediately, I was filled with a deeply transformative sense of Love.
The presence of this subtle transformative light is present in each of my paintings, each one them painted with Love. And with beautiful poignant tears arising from a soulful sense of deep being.
My professional work is two-fold: Transpersonal Art and Transpersonal Psychotherapy, both of which serve to convey, in essence, gently transformative healingful energies.
Trained in fine art at Oxford University’s Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art (1972-75) - and initially accepted on the strength of my drawings (age 16), my pictures have evolved through atmospheric landscapes, portraiture (3 pictures accepted, at age 20, for an annual exhibition by The Royal Society of Portrait Painters), followed by socially observational pieces on plywood off-cuts while co-building the superstructure of a 70’ narrow boat, and then recognised for their transformative effects in 2005 (when I was invited to show 6 paintings in the International Exhibition of Visionary Art, London)...further evolving to the way my art looks today.
You may notice - both here and on my art website - how many of my pieces quietly embody the pattern of the ancient mandala...with a central point of light and surrounding forms as shapes and images. There are also recurring symbolic themes you may notice in my work - such as babies, birds, energy flow, and hearts. And when you feel drawn to a particular picture...and gaze into it, notice its effect within your being.
Showing my work: I’ve only exhibited very occasionally over the many years of my life so far, instead choosing to share my work via my art cards, my art website - https://www.cahlil-art.co.uk, and therapy website - https://cahlil-therapy.co.uk. When my images go into the world, I know they create some kind of subtle shift – because many have described the healingful and transformative effects of my work.
Now I offer my pictures to you here, to gaze into…and experience.
