bio

I am a self taught landscape painter living on the Kent coast. I work in acrylics and mixed media. Light and its effects on the landscape and seasons are a major influence in my work.I'm not looking to produce a realistic image but rather to convey the emotions and feelings of the moment. I walk everyday by the sea and in the surrounding countryside, making sketches and taking photos along the way, which I may use later as starting point for a painting. Once back in the studio often using no reference material, working intuitively I build up the paintings in layers. All manner of materials come into play including brushes, palette knives, credit cards, rags , fingers and anything else that comes to hand.
