We introduce and look at the practice of two of the newest members of the collective

bio

Olivia Mitchell is a contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in an intuitive, tactile dialogue with the natural world. Working predominantly in earthy, monochromatic palettes, she embraces a process-driven approach- layering, scraping back, and reworking materials to uncover subtle, textured surfaces that evoke the passage of time, erosion, and transformation. Her paintings reveal visceral, earthen textures that feel elemental and ancient- like weathered metal, scorched earth, or the remnants of fire. Bathed in rich tones of ochre, umber, and sienna, her paintings evoke a sense of earth’s enduring memory. Since completing her MA in Fine Art at the University of Gloucestershire, Olivia has focused on creating more intimate, materially sensitive works. Her practice now explores painting as both surface and object, foregrounding the quiet complexity of material and process. Earlier this year, she joined Cheltenham’s well-known Lansdown Art Studios and also became a member of the online collective at Sixteen Gallery.
