JANE FOOT
Introducing another of our featured artists, Jane Foot. Jane is a mixed media semi-abstract painter who uses wax-based mediums to create intriguing, textural narrative works. Using abstract shapes and colours, she creates storylines and evokes curiosity in viewers using her multilayered technique to create unique images which reveal themselves differently on each interaction.
Inspired by words from song lyrics, novels, or poems, Jane explores unconscious familiar landscapes, emotions and experiences. Her works often have a feeling of nostalgia or familiarity; even if the scenes themselves are unreal or totally abstracted, they foster a sense of connection. Her colour palette is bright and playful, even a little mischievous. She is not shying away from vibrant tones, but balances them with neutrals and blacks to render her unique, bold, graphical style.
Jane lives and works in May Hill Village and exhibits regularly in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud, with recent exhibitions including her beautifully curated solo exhibition at Spring Gallery (fellow Montpellier gallery).
