THIS FRIDAY OUR FEATURED ARTIST IS ROY SHAPIRO
Roy paints expressive still lifes in oils, using his studio setting to create curious tableaus of eclectic objects, foods and flowers. His realistic style and beautifully observed natural and manmade forms paired with witty considered titles create energetic yet thoughtful pieces which speak to the vitality and abundance of nature and our interaction with it.

Strongly influenced by 17th century Dutch, Flemish and Spanish painters, Roy's style is classical but with a modern twist as he plays around with the objects and the way they interact in the scene. Creating layers, towers, crevices and spillages, he encourages the viewer to explore the communication between the objects and the many textures and and touches in his painting.
