Parts of this image seem to work almost accidentally, pieces fitting together happily to bring an overall sense of cohesion through the artist’s exploration of forms and inspiration. Jonathan works in his signature muted colour palette, evoking earthy tones and giving reference and deference to the role the natural world plays in influencing his practice and ideas.
He creates textures in acrylic in contrast to flat colour, bringing into focus different areas of the painting as you explore. This sense of investigation invites the viewer to contemplate the visual descriptions being given by the artist and what feelings or thoughts they might provoke in themselves.
