KAREN BLOCH PRESENTS LIGHT AND COLOUR A CELEBRATION OF THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF LIGHT AND THE EMOTIONAL RESONANCE OF COLOUR.
Inspired by sketches and studies made directly from life, these paintings capture fleeting moments, vibrant atmospheres and the artist’s personal response to the world around her. From sunlit landscapes to richly coloured still lifes, the work explores how colour can evoke mood, memory and a sense of place. Rooted in observation but shaped by feeling, the collection invites viewers to pause, look closely and share in the joy of seeing.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
"Colour is at the heart of my work. I am fascinated by its ability to capture light, atmosphere and a sense of place, and my paintings are driven by a desire to interpret the world through colour, form and brushwork.
Although creativity has been a lifelong passion, it was only after retiring from a career in medicine that I was able to devote myself fully to painting. Largely self-taught and originally working in watercolour, I now paint mainly in oils, finding particular enjoyment in plein air, still life and portrait painting.
Travel provides a rich source of inspiration, especially the light and vibrant colours of southern Europe. Whether painting on an Italian hillside or in the studio, I am continually inspired by the challenge of capturing the character and atmosphere of a subject.
My work is influenced by the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, Paul Cézanne, Joaquín Sorolla and John Singer Sargent, as well as the Scottish Colourists, whose masterful use of colour, light and painterly expression continues to inform and inspire my work today."
