ELLIE THOMAS
Meet our featured artist Ellie Thomas, an impressionistic artist working in acrylic and pastel with an emphasis on contemporary landscapes. Interpreting the landscape using simplified forms and colours, she conveys a real sense of the character of a place, creating serene, bucolic landscapes with a bold, joyful style. Largely inspired by the Cotswolds, she takes us on her journeys with her to experience places as she does.
Ellie's focus in her landscape painting is on conveying the essence of a place, which she does by reducing form and colour with a playful sense of abstraction without losing the characteristics and distinct feel of a tangible, recognisable location; this leaves the viewer with a sense of connection to the artist's view, a paused moment in a real, beautiful place.
Ellie exhibits around the Cotswolds, and her works can be found at Cotswolds Art Co in Broadway, as well as in Sixteen Gallery, when her duo exhibition Finding A Place shows at the end of September. Find out more here.
