THIS WEEK OUR FEATURED ARTIST IS EMMA PRICE
Emma is an abstract and semi-abstract landscape painter living and practising in Surrey. In her painting, she explores the emotion and memory of the natural landscapes which she has called home in both England and Australia.
She paints intuitively and expressively, building layers of ephemeral colour into suggestions of place and recollection. Using a delicately muted palette, she creates a deep intensity of feeling in her pieces, which invite viewers into a sense of tranquil peace and sometimes solitude.
With a clear love for the nature she depicts, Emma's works become stories about spaces, our own and the artist's, and the way in which we inhabit them. She lovingly communicates this sense of an environment with ethereal layers of paint washed over each other to create a depth and texture. Sometimes with the simple addition of a mark or detail to represent a wall or a path or the idea of a tree, Emma gives life to her paintings and gives the viewer a connection to a place.
Emma is an associate member of the Society of Graphic Fine Arts (The Drawing Society) and exhibits with them regularly, as well as being a Category Winner in DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year 2024.
