THE POSTCARD SHOW SUPPORTS THE FAMILY HAVEN

THE POSTCARD SHOW | 9 – 21 October
OPENING EVENT | Friday 9 October 5 – 8pm
This year, through The Postcard Show, we are delighted to be supporting The Family Haven!
The Postcard Show is designed to bring artists, the local community, and meaningful causes together in one wild, creative celebration. Every original, postcard-sized piece in the exhibition is displayed anonymously and priced at £50. It’s a wonderful chance to take home a unique piece of original art, and for every artwork sold, £5 will be donated directly to The Family Haven.
Based right here in Gloucestershire, The Family Haven does vital work supporting vulnerable families through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. We couldn't think of a better local cause to champion, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them for this year's show.
Rather than us telling you all about the incredible work your purchases will support, we thought it best to hand things over to the team themselves. Read on to learn all about The Family Haven and the important work they do for our community!
About The Family Haven
The Family Haven is a Gloucestershire-based charity supporting families through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. We believe that children thrive when their whole family is supported — so rather than working with parents and children separately, we bring them together under one roof.
Our whole-family approach
At the heart of what we do is our on-site nursery project. Unlike a typical nursery, parents stay with us while their children are cared for in our Ofsted registered nursery. This means our team can work directly with parents — on parenting skills, personal development, healthy eating, mental health and wellbeing, and employability — while also getting to know their children well enough to spot when a child might need extra support, often much earlier than they otherwise would.
Supporting babies and new parents
For our youngest families, we run baby massage sessions to help parents bond with their babies and build confidence in the early months. Alongside this, our Little Connections group helps parents with young babies recognise how their baby communicates — the cues and signals babies use to make their needs known — and how to respond to and encourage this early, non-verbal communication. As babies grow, the group also supports parents in nurturing their developing verbal communication.
Respite when it's needed most
We also provide respite sessions, giving parents the breathing space to attend counselling, medical appointments, training courses, or work experience — knowing their children are safe and well cared for while they do so.
Practical, everyday support
For many of the families we work with, day-to-day life comes with real hardship. That's why
we also offer:
Food parcels
Clothing donations
Bathing and washing facilities
Toiletries
English classes
Family day trips
Why it matters
Many of the families who come to us are navigating homelessness, domestic abuse, isolation, or the lasting effects of difficult childhoods themselves. By supporting the whole family together — not just the child, and not just the parent — we help break cycles of hardship and give children the best possible start.
Our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of funders, donors, and our local community.
