PARK LIFE

'Park Life' is Paul Park's first foray into solo showing, and it's at our very own Sixteen Gallery in Cheltenham. 'Park Life' is a celebration of everything we see around us. Vibrant and joyful colours combine and transform the everyday in this delightful exhibition of oil pastel works. Paul has a firm and consistent art practice, and his sheer love of life has become an inspirational starting point for each piece of work that he creates. Houses, trains, trees and fish take on exuberant colour and presence in his surreal and joyful compositions. Check out this show if you need a fresh jolt of energy and a touch of joy in your day!

NEAR AND FAR

‘Near and Far’ is an exhibition of selected works by Caroline Evans and Ellie Thomas, two artists with distinctive and contrasting styles and perspectives. Their work explores different themes but is united in its celebration of the natural environment, light and colour. This exhibition will bring together Caroline's intricate, delicate and up-close floral portraits and place them in conversation with Ellie's sweeping vistas and vibrant depictions of the local landscape, in what is sure to be a sweet, scenic affair. They have a private view on 13 March, get in touch with either artist to find out more or visit the Gardens Gallery.

IN SEARCH OF THE PERFECT HILL

Artlandish is a Hereford initiative set up to utilise empty shops for artists and art spaces. It hosts workspaces, provides an ability to run courses and sessions and gives access to event and exhibition spaces such as the Bloom-Space in Eign Gate. For 2 weeks this March, Bloom-Space will host the beautifully bucolically named exhibition 'In Search of the Perfect Hill', a group show including Susan Smith, of artists responding to and celebrating their favourite hill in the Marches. Susan's expressive abstract paintings, inspired by a sense of place and bursting with character, narrative and colour, are sure to be a highlight of the exhibition. SQUARE

Jonathan Oakes comes to Gardens Gallery in Cheltenham for a duo show with fellow 'The Committee' member Jane Spooner. 'The Committee is a collection of artists and creatives who seek to exhibit meaningful artworks having professionalism, passion and potency as their mantra' and this pair have come together and created their exhibition 'Square'. Square aims to delight in the use of colour and harmony. Showcasing meaningful artworks, the artists engage in contemporary themes to stimulate audiences' imaginations. Jonathan will display his always intriguing abstract pieces which seek to inspire the viewer with questions on environmental concerns and quirky imagined narratives.

NEAR AND FAR

Members of Junction 12 Art Group, including the collective's Tamsin Stuart and Beverley Perry, bring "Moods and Musing" to Sixteen Gallery, seeing us into next month. Junction 12 Art Group is a Gloucestershire collective of creatives working in a wide range of media, who collaborate and exhibit regularly together as a whole or in parts. This exhibition will feature five members of the group and give a vibrant insight into how they see the world and beyond as they take over the gallery space. Find out more about each artist's practice and get a sneak peek at some of the works here.
