ARTISTS | INTRODUCING

CLEM WHALLEY AND JACQUELINE HAMMOND

Here to bring some summer sunshine, two new members of the collective: Clem Whalley and Jacqueline Hammond.

Both these self-taught artists explore the beauty in the everyday and bring their unique style, some bold colours and a little bit of joy to our platform. Read a little about them below, and find more of their work on their beautifully curated portfolios.

CAT THORNE

Clem Whalley is a contemporary artist based in Cheltenham, working in acrylic on canvas to explore still life and tablescapes. Her bold use of colour and graphic pattern captures, places, objects and fleeting moments, inviting viewers to find beauty in the everyday.

Drawing from personal memories—shared meals, treasured objects, or passing conversations—Clem’s work reflects an intimate dialogue between memory and emotion. Her visual language is shaped by a Cornish upbringing, Mediterranean travels, and a deep appreciation for food, culture, and place.

With a background in Landscape Architecture, Clem brings a unique perspective to form, space, and the emotional resonance of colour. Through her paintings, she celebrates the small joys that shape our lives, encouraging nostalgia, conversation, and connection.

JACQUELINE HAMMOND

Jacqueline is an oil painter whose work draws deeply from close observation of landscapes and plant life. Since 2020, she has walked local footpaths daily, immersing herself in the nature around her. Along the way, she notes the seasonal shifts through photography and sketching in pen and watercolour to capture the fleeting impressions.

This practice has led her to explore oil painting as a more expressive medium. Working both in the studio and occasionally en plein air, Jacqueline is inspired by the often-overlooked beauty of the everyday. Her paintings centre on the interplay of light, colour, and pattern, aiming to evoke a sense of presence and emotional connection. Whether contemplative or celebratory, each piece seeks to hold a moment in time—lively, vibrant, and beautiful.
