Flow
Artist, printmaker, designer working on paper and fabric.
My design career has been rich and varied working as a textile designer, theatre designer and teacher as well as a tutor at the GPC.
I am currently studying for a Masters looking in depth at my drawing and printmaking practice.
My print is a response to Lotta Dobling’s playful exploration with shell prints and colour. I had coincidently just been to the South Coast and collected some shells and seaweed from the beach and was really happy to see her work.
Using monoprint and collagraph I began experimenting with different print techniques, exploring mark making and texture as a response to the items I had collected. Originally, I worked in black and white and then when I had chosen the elements I wanted to combine I began to explore colour looking at some of those used by Lotta in the ideas she had sent me.
‘Flow' amalgamates my observations and inspirations creating a snapshot of the moving and shifting layers dancing just below the water’s surface.
