Exploring Textures

13th - 26th July 2023

Jaci Hogan, Alison Holt

Alison Holt and Jaci Hogan return to Sixteen Gallery this July with their usual fabulous combination of landscapes and wildlife full of textures. Alison’s land and sea scapes  are beautifully created in textile using her own method of freehand machine embroidery which she has developed over many years since graduating from Goldsmiths.  Each piece of work involves many layers of different coloured threads which Alison builds up like paint to produce amazing images which are almost photorealistic in their finish.
Likewise, Jaci uses soft pastels to create layers of colour in her method to reproduce the many textures of the wildlife she hopes to capture.  From the fur on her giraffes to the feathers on her diving penguins, she manages to take the viewer to the animal world through her wonderful wildlife pastel paintings.
The exhibition will run for 2 weeks and both artists will bring their tools of their trade with them so they can demonstrate their method of working in the gallery.  They hope people will come and enjoy viewing their work, as well as see them in action.
