Helena Zabko Phillips
'Pomegranates'
Oil on Canvas
Helena counts herself as very lucky to have spent her formative years in the depths of the Welsh countryside. It instilled within her a deep sensitivity and appreciation of her surroundings which has remained with her throughout her life.
As a teenager her family uprooted to the Midlands and in later years, as an adult, greatly missing the countryside she moved to Gloucestershire. Busy with her own family it was only as they began to fly the nest that she embraced art wholeheartedly.
Having dabbled and enjoyed many creative pastimes throughout the years Helena began painting in oil paint, enjoying its flow and versatility. Painting a variety of subjects she particularly enjoys painting still life subjects.
Within her still life paintings she likes to convey a sense of calm and peacefulness whilst bringing out the beauty of the subject. Whilst painting she likes to listen to classical music and lose herself in her work.
Subject matter for her still life paintings is plentiful, nature being and endless source of supply. No shopping trip is complete without her scouring the local charity and junk shops for interesting and appealing items to complement her still life studies
